Step 1. Lead-in
Step 1. Warm-up and Lead-in
Greet with students and sing an English song about food named Vegetables vegetables we love you. Then ask students one question “What can you hear in the song?”
Step 2. Presentation
1. Draw some pictures about beef, orange, potato and coffee to teach the new words.
2. Ask students to match the words in part2 and part3 with the things in the picture in part1.
3. Students listen to the tape and check the food and drink Betty and her mother have got.
4. Listen and read the dialogue to complete the table. Then the teacher teaches the sentence pattern “Have we got any apples? Yes, we have. /No, we haven’t.”
5. Students listen to the recording again and repeat.
Step 3. Practice
Activity 1: Guessing game
The teacher describes the food or drink and students guess in English. In this way, students can practice the new words.
Activity2: Pair work
Practice the conversations to talk about Tony’s shopping in pairs. For example, Student A asks “Has he got any chicken?”, and then Student B answers “No, he hasn’t.”
Step 4. Consolidation
Make a List
Four students work as a group to make a shopping list about food and drinks in their groups. Each group will talk about the things they need and things they have got to make a shopping list. Then invite some groups to make a report.
Step 5. Summary
Students summarize what they have learned in this lesson, including words and sentence structures, and the teacher gives supplements if necessary, and reminds them of the importance of a healthy eating habit. Then the teacher leads students to use new knowledge to talk about food and drink while shopping.
Step6. Homework
Review the new words and sentences they have learned today, and help their parents make a shopping list according to things they need and they have got.
